From MacroQuest Wiki
The year was 2002... EqMule was playing EQ and was pretty damn tired of the game... hmm he thought to himself, what can i do to make this game fun again?!!
Google was his friend and he found a site with some info on a program called Xylobot...
After a few hours he had his first bot ready and a few days later Watchman Halv had been killed about a million times (cause thats how boring EverQuest is, you have to kill things a few million times to gain exp and level your char) and his druid reached level 47 all by her self, while EqMule was at work or sleeping.
However... to take his char from 47 to 60 some other camp was needed and preferably a good spot with no trains or curious players... Even though we all know that EqMule is a genious when it comes to botting afk, xylobot just wouldnt do exactly what he wanted, and there was no source to look at to make it do it.
Back to Google, Eqmule found some other very interesting information, it was about a program called macroquest...(we are now in januari 2003)
Eqmule started lurking the boards, even downloaded a precompiled version, because this was back in the day when mq came compiled and he was to lazy to bother with the code... he was very curious though...
EqMules c++ knowledge was kinda sucky back in the day, so he started from the bottom, by finding offsets on patchday...
After a couple months of doing that a few things was learned and structures became more and more interesting, especially since MQ broke and Plazmic disapeared off of the face of earth...
EqMule and everyone else where waiting patiently for the Master to return, and fix MQ again... but nowhere was he to be found, nor did he come to answer our prayers, but at that time of darkness, Eqmule rose to the test and looked at the code from the past, and lo and behold, he started to understand and the spirit of Plazmic came upon him and his fingers started typing code and structures was found and ressurected with the help of Winhack and a "structchecker" which was created for the purpose of fixing MQ.
After most of the structures was corrected, EqMule had plans... Not only was MQ going to be fixed, it was going to get some older functions back... looking at really old code from the CVS Eqmule discovvered that MQ in past times had been able to sell and buy and select items from merchants, and EqMule set out on a crusade to restore this functionallity of old.
It took him a few weeks, but then they where there again... /sell /buy /selectitem and some parmas for support, thoose where probably EqMules biggest contribution to the MQ community during his days of glory.
He is still interested in MQ and hangs around on IRC as well as checking the boards from time to time. If the need arises again one day, he will most likely step up to the plate and help out, but for the time being MQ has so many great devs and good skilled people *Lax*cough*for*one* that he has stepped back and are enjoying the fruit of his labour.
